The Kinkaid School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered individual with an interest in gaining practical teaching experience in mathematics in a private school setting.  The purpose of this internship is to partner a future educator with master teachers to gain experience with effective lesson planning, creating an engaging learning environment, and mastering content delivery.  The teaching fellow will develop a strong familiarity with core content, connect content to students’ innate inquisitiveness and integrate technology into the curriculum, among other key aspects of effective instruction.   This is a paid internship with benefits for the duration of the 2020-21 school year.


The Kinkaid School is a co-educational non-sectarian day school enrolling 1,400 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.   Located on a sixty-five-acre campus in the heart of Houston, Texas, the school offers a thriving intellectual community in the midst of a vibrant, urban, diverse culture.  Faculty enjoys small class sizes and a collegial, collaborative environment centered on intellectual curiosity and continuous professional development.


  • Desire to teach one to two sections of core academic content
  • Enjoys working with upper school students across the entire range of grades (9-12)

  • Additional responsibilities will involve coaching a sport or sponsoring a club


  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, mathematics, or related field
  • Experience working with school age students
  • Commitment to the field of education as a future master teacher
  • Familiarity with technology
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to invest time to learn and grow
  • Open to constructive criticism
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Interest in being a full member of the community, contributing both inside and outside of the classroom
