    The Kinkaid School is seeking a dynamic, innovative Mathematics Teacher to join its Middle School team at the start of the 2019 school year, in August 2019. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching middle school age children with proven success in connecting the content to students’ innate inquisitiveness and critical thinking skills. The Middle School Mathematics Teacher will be called on to promote high levels of learning in an engaging and effective manner using a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources.


    The Kinkaid School is a co-educational non-sectarian day school enrolling over 1,400 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Located on a sixty-five-acre campus in the heart of Houston, Texas, the School offers a thriving intellectual community in the midst of a vibrant, urban, diverse culture. The Middle School faculty enjoys small class sizes and a collegial, collaborative environment centered on intellectual curiosity and continuous professional development.


    The Middle School Mathematics teacher must be able to teach all levels of Middle School mathematics to a total of approximately 75 students.  The teacher will advise a small group of students and be a member of one or more grade level teams.    Kinkaid teachers enjoy a supportive teaching environment focused on collegiality and academic excellence.  Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring a club or coaching a sport.  This is contingent upon the candidate’s interest and skill set as well as the School’s needs.


    • A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or pedagogy with an emphasis on science education (Master’s degree preferred)
    • A minimum of three years of experience teaching mathematics to middle school children.  Prior experience teaching 6th grade math a plus.
    • Proven understanding and ability to teach mathematical content
    • Ability to incorporate inquiry into instructional strategies to create student centered problem solving approach to learning
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Docs, Spreadsheet
    • Core knowledge of development of middle school age children
    • Core knowledge about research-based practices for effective instruction of the middle school age learner
    • A passion for and experience with integrating technology into the curriculum to serve the needs of all learners
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Lauded experience working with students, parents, and colleagues
